Our DiscoveryPointe Kids Ministry is on mission to present the Bible in an engaging way, that points kids to discovering a FULL LIFE in Jesus, through fun, safe and age-appropriate teaching and relationships. In fact, we’re so committed to the next generation, every week is Vacation Bible School (VBS) at Lifepointe!
Last month, our amazing Impact Leaders taught kids about the fruit of the spirit, like love, patience and self-control in our On the Farm series. This Sunday, October 1st, we say goodbye to the farm, and celebrate with anticipation the new series, Fearbusters.
Fearbusters, a delightful homage to educational shows like the Mythbusters, is a series that uses songs, science, and biblical stories of figures like Peter, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego to help children use the Word of God to conquer their fears.
The verse DiscoveryPointe has chosen as the theme of the series is Psalm 24:4 which says, “I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears.”
“We want the kids to know that they don’t have to be afraid,” Children’s Pastor Emilee said.
In addition to celebrating the start of a new series, DiscoveryPointe is also celebrating reaching more children than ever before!
Pastor Emilee says they have consistently reached more than 250 children each week through On the Farm, and anticipate to reach even more in the months leading up to and following relocation to our new facility.
None of this would be possible without the continued generosity of everyone serving in DiscoveryPointe!
Each week, Impact Leaders give of their time and talents through teaching, acting, production, preparing the classroom materials, etc. And, this past Sunday, they worked together after 2nd service to take down the farm-themed décor, and prepare the rooms and hallways for the new series. Impact leader Caroline Nixon also unveiled a music video that goes with the new series.
So, remember to “Ask Your Kids” about their Sunday morning experience. Each week, ourDiscoveryPointe team will be sharing simple questions designed to help parents engage kids in a conversation that reiterates the lessons. So, be sure to “LIKE” our DiscoveryPointe at Lifepointe Church Facebook Fan Page to stay connected.
Here are this past Sunday’s questions:
(1) Did you have fun? and (2) Can you name the fruit of the spirit? (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control)
And the children of DiscoveryPointe are growing in spirit, as they learn to be generous with their time and talents as well. Last month, DiscoveryPointe introduced a new “Rangers” program, designed to teach leadership and boost engagement with the lessons among children who attend both services.
Just like our adult Impact Leaders, Rangers are learning to “sit one, serve one” by attending one service normally, and serving in DiscoveryPointe during the second. There are currently 13 children enrolled in the program, which has so far been well-received.
“Students are jumping in and serving,” Emilee said. “They’re excited to come, running up and asking when they are going to serve. They are really taking ownership.”
