Mentor Program Year in Review

This year Lifepointe began a partnership with Springfield Elementary School in the form of a mentoring program.  It was such a privilege to be asked to come along side the staff of Springfield Elementary and invest in some of the children who attend there. We asked our program coordinator, Teri Kubbs, to wrap up the year for us in a few words.  Please take a minute check out the guest blog post below from Teri and see what she has to say about this amazing program:

Have you ever had the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a child? That is exactly what 27 Lifepointe adults experienced this year! Although it was the first year of our program and there were some bugs that needed to be worked out, by the second semester we were full speed ahead mentoring to 23 Springfield Elementary students ranging from kindergarten to 5th grade. Our final event was a Mentor / Mentee Picnic and the smiles were big, bright, and quite contagious!

Highlights of the year:

– We had adults that were committed to be there at least two times each month. Several made it their mission to be there at least once a week.

– Each child knew that there was a new adult in their world who cared – really cared about their school work, their school day, and of course, their lunch!

– We were able to make connections with the administrators, teachers, and staff and allow the commitment of these members of Lifepointe Church to show in all we did.

– We were able to observe huge changes in attitudes and behaviors, study habits and verbal, reading, and math skills, and of course, huge changes in character and confidence. And that was not only in our kiddos, but in ourselves as well!

But our Mentorship Program has just begun! We are committed to not only serving these 23 students in the Fall of 2016, but adding another ten deserving students to our ranks. And that is where you come in! We need you to think about being a part of this program, to pray about the time and commitment, and to celebrate the joy that will come your way!
